Mphe-Thuto Primary learner dies after falling under a bus

Gauteng Department of Education, Steve Mabona has has confirmed a terrible incident in Mogale City, South Africa.

In an official statement issued this evening,Mabona says, “Gauteng Education MEC Mr Panyaza Lesufi is devastated to have learned about an incident that took place on Thursday, 29 September 2022, where a Grade 6 boy learner from Mphe-Thuto Primary School in Ga-Mohale, Mogale City died after allegedly falling under a moving scholar transport bus.”

He carries on, “Information at our disposal states that the incident occurred after school Thursday afternoon. Reports allege that learners were fighting inside a scholar transport bus when the Grade 6 boy learner allegedly fell out of the bus and was unfortunately ran over by it.”

Mabona reports that the Gauteng Department of Education officials have visited the learner’s home to pay their respects and the Psycho Social Team will be dispatched to the school tomorrow, Friday, 30 September 2022, to provide necessary support.

Police are Investigating circumstances surrounding this saddening incident.

“We are utterly devastated by this tragic incident and we wish to convey our deepest condolences to the family and school community at large”, said MEC Lesufi.
