Johannesburg Central law enforcement agencies weekend review

Johannesburg Central: According to the SAPS spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele, it was a busy but successful weekend for law enforcement agencies in Johannesburg Central.

Captain Mbele reported, “One hundred and ninety-six (196) suspects were apprehended by JHB Central Cluster Stations in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies for various offenses during crime combating operations that were conducted from the 12th of August 2022 and ended this morning 14th of August 2022. Suspects were arrested around Mondeor, Sophia Town, Brixton, Fairlands, Langlaagte, Booysens,Moffatview and Johannesburg Central area.”

He further explains, “Among the suspects who were apprehended during the operations; four suspects were arrested for rape, thirteen for domestic violence, one for cash in transit, two possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, three for common robbery, thirteen for selling liquor without a license, five for dealing in drugs, ten for possession of drugs and sixteen for drunk and driving.”

Cpt Mbele said that the rest of the suspects were apprehended for committing other crimes ranging from assault common, assault GBH, armed robbery, possession of suspected stolen property, shoplifting, malicious damage to property, theft, fraud, business breaking, intimidation and undocumented persons.

Most of the suspects will be appearing in their respective Magistrate’s Courts tomorrow, Monday the 15th of August 2022.
