JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL: The South African Police Service (SAPS) Spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele has reported that police officers yesterday, the 1st of May 2022, apprehended three suspects between the ages of 33 to 37 inside the Dani Trading Group shop at corner Delvers and Kerk Street at 13:00.

Captain Mbele explained, “Suspects entered the shop pretending to be customers, one of them pointed a female cashier with a firearm and she screamed. She was assaulted and her crew and customers were forced at the back of the shop. They were robbed their cash and cellphones.”

He continued, “Tip-off from one of the community members led to the apprehension of all the suspects; three unlicensed firearms and ammunition were recovered.”

“Firearms will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used in the commission of other serious and violent crimes. Suspects will be profiled to determine if they are not linked to other cases. They will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on the 03rd of May 2022,” said the captain.

Johannesburg Central Station Commander Brigadier Perumal commended good working relationship between the Police and the community. He urged the community to keep up the good work of being our eyes and ears in the fight against crime.
