Busy weekend for the Johannesburg Central Cluster Stations

The Johannesburg Central Cluster Stations had a busy weekend which saw one hundred and thirty-five (135) suspects apprehended for various offenses. The crime combating operations were conducted from the 22nd of April 2022 and ended this morning the 24th of April 2022.

The SAPS spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele reported that the suspects were nabbed around Mondeor, Sophia Town, Fairlands, Langlaagte, Brixton, Moffatview, Booysens and Johannesburg Central area.

He said, “Among the suspects who were arrested during the operations; twenty-one suspects were apprehended for domestic violence, two for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, two for attempted murder, three for armed robbery, ten for damage to infrastructure, two for possession of unlicensed firearms and one for business breaking.”

Captain Mbele also said that the rest of the suspects were arrested for, “committing crimes ranging from assault common, assault GBH, theft, kidnapping, shoplifting, malicious damage to property, possession of suspected stolen property, possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, concealment of birth, house breaking and theft, drinking in public and dealing in liquor without a license.”

The majority of the suspects will appear in their respective Magistrate’s Courts on the 25th of April 2022.
