SAPS clerk assaults lady in broad daylight and files charges against her

There’s a video making rounds on social media of a man slapping a young lady multiple times in the face. The man is said to be a clerk with the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Kempton Park, Johannesburg. WATCH VIDEO:

The SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Sello commented on the incident, “The Management of SAPS in Gauteng has noted with disappointment the video circulating on social media where one of the employees of SAPS appears to be slapping a woman.”

She goes on to add, “The incident is condemned in the strongest possible terms. As the SAPS, we are mandated to protect and serve and also fight against any incidents of violence, especially those perpetrated to women and children. The lady has opened a case of assault while the man opened a crimen injuria case.”

The Colonel stated that, “a departmental case has been opened against the member in question, who is a clerk at a local police station.”

We enquired from the Colonel why the man has not been arrested yet and Colonel Sello replied, “Assault and crimen injuria are cases that have to be investigated first and then be brought before the Prosecutor to decide whether to prosecute or not.”
