SAPS Boipatong’s new broom, sweeping clean

It’s barely three months since his arrival in the office of Station Commander of Boipatong South African Police Service (SAPS) and Lieutenant Colonel M.E Molotsi has proven that indeed, a new broom sweeps clean, literally too!

Besides the several criminal cases solved in record time, the Boipatong Police Station is clean, after the cleaning campaign yesterday, the 16th of March 2022, involving SAPS management, Community Policing Forum (CPF), Youth Desk, Department of Arts, Culture and Sports, Itereleng (a local NGO), Bambanani Support Group, Indibano Victim Centre and other stakeholders.

The cleaning started at 8am with Lt. Col. Molotsi leading from the front. He emphasised the impact of a clean environment on moral and positive attitude. He also highlighted the criminal activities that emanate from general environmental untidiness and further encouraged the stakeholders to work together with the police, not only to keep the environment clean but the community clean from crime as well.

Lt. Col. Molotsi stated, “This cleaning project, endeavours to put the wheels in motion in bringing back co-operation between the police and the community.”

SAPS spokesperson, Sgt. Thembeka Maxambela explained that the day was fruitful and work was done successfully. “The teams divided themselves to cover part of the the holding cells, personnel offices, yard, at the mobile local clinic where there was tall grass and the face of the police station client service centre.”

Lt. Col. Molotsi hinted that a follow-up cleaning campaign is on the cards for the near future.

Sgt Maxambela concluded, “The Station Commander Lt. Col. Molotsi and the Interim committee chairperson of the CPF, Mr Maniki Ntsepe thank and appreciate everyone who took their time to come to clean the police station. They urge anyone willing to bring change to our town to join us (SAPS) in the fight for a clean environment and a crime-free community.”
