Male suspect arrested in Ivory Park for dealing in dagga

JOHANNESBURG: The Gauteng Traffic Police Special Law Enforcement Unit last night, Wednesday 23 February, arrested a 42-year-old male suspect in Ivory Park for dealing in dagga

The suspect was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of dagga, weighing 50.7kg and estimated at a street value of +- R600 000.00. He is being detained at Ivory Park Police Station and is expected to appear at Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges relating to unlawful possession and dealing in dagga. The consignment was booked at Ivory Park police station for further investigation.

“The Gauteng Traffic Police will continue to root out all criminal elements as part of the safety month programme. Illegal dealing and possession of dagga has far reaching implications as it is a major contributing factor to most crimes. The Gauteng Traffic Police will continue to disrupt the demand and supply value chain of dagga in an effort to ensure a safe and secure province,’’ said Sello Maremane, Gauteng Traffic Police Spokesperson.
