There’s still a lot of good in Vaal

Despite our electricity woes, the rubbish dumps that are all over the place and escalating crime rate, there is still a lot of good happening here in Vereeniging. We just have to open our eyes.

This is exactly what I did this morning as I dashed to the taxi rank in the pouring rain. Lo and behold! A marvellous sight in front of Paddy Holy Clothing Store in Leslie Street. The owner of the shop, Queen Ndieze and her employees were handing out free tea and bread to passers-by. FREE! I had to halt my trip and have a chat with the queen.

Queen Ndieze explained to me how it all started and why she was giving out free tea and bread every Wednesday in front of her shop. Listen to the clip below for more information:
