Outcry on Twitter after woman insulted President Cyril Ramaphosa

Naledi Chirwa (Twitter)

South Africa: Has it come to this? Does any Tom, Dick and Harry have the privilege to insult an African head of state and get away with it? This is the highest degree of lawlessness and should not be acceptable in our country!

These are the cries of some of the disgruntled Twitter users after a certain Naledi Chirwa called President Cyril Ramaphosa ‘a little boy’.

Well, she went as far as calling the President a murderer, a liar and a thief. She tweeted, “Nine-respect yokudlala. Youth unemployment will continue mounting up while you’re respecting a man who respects no one but Stellenbosch mafias. I don’t have a respect to grant amagintsa who abuse positions of power to protect the money of their bosses at the expense of workers.”

Naledi Chirwa@NalediChirwa·The problem is that you respect people for WHAT they are and not WHO they are. It’s embarrassing because he even bought that Presidency and yet we must be bullied to respect him? Sorry bot sorry. I will never respect a man who squandered R1 billion meant to fight GBVF. Never.

Naledi Chirwa@NalediChirwa·The real question is why do YOU respect a man who lied to the people of Alex, who murdered innocent miners and left their wives and children destitute. Why do YOU respect a man who lied to unemployed young people and promised them 2 million jobs only to have 100 thousands lost?

She clearly has the support of her fellow Economic Freedom Fighters, but, what does the President of the EFF, Julius Malema has to say about his member’s uncalled for insults to the President of South Africa?

  1. So, is it ever acceptable to criticise a head of state? Bear in mind here that if the world had not been critical of Bootha we would still have apartheid.

Where is the line between acceptable/unacceptable? Who decides?
