Vaal’s hero, a taxi driver with a heart of gold

Many people will come forth with terrible experiences at the hands of taxi drivers in our beloved rainbow nation. Many years ago, I witnessed a young lady being slapped on the face by an angry taxi driver for not closing the door after she got off the taxi. It was such a traumatic experience even for onlookers, just opposite Jika Majika in Vereeniging. No price for guessing how it was for the young lady, the humiliation, the pain and anguish. Yet, she never retaliated, neither did she utter a single word. We were all frozen with shock and fear, except one guy who was brave enough to stop the taxi driver.

It’s therefore heart-warming to stumble upon this post on Facebook by Mokone Bigbrada Ngoasheng:

Appreciation post:

We always post bad things that taxi drivers do. Today I chose to appreciate this taxi driver coz yesterday he showed ubuntu when a lady passenger in a taxi from Sharpeville to Vanderbijlpark fell ill in the taxi. She felt dizzy, started sweating and she didn’t look well. She asked the driver to stop and find her some water. The driver did that and when they failed to find water, the driver offered to take the passenger to Engen Garage near Sharpeville. He bought her bottled water with his own money. The passenger decided to remain at the garage so that she can return home & the driver showed so much concern over the passenger he didn’t even know. He waited a while to make sure that she was fine.

So I just wanna say not all taxi drivers are bad or rude. May God bless you my brother & may other people learn from your deeds🙏
