Goodbye, Rhythm City

Today South Africans bade a tearful farewell to one of its oldest soapies, Rhythm City. After 14 years of broadcasting, the soapie aired its final episode today.

e.tv declined to say why it decided to axe the soapie, other than to say that it’s “part of a business strategy”.

Rhythm City says goodbye to its loyal fans of 14 years on the 16th of July with an ending South Africa never expected. The show which started on the 9th of July 2007, will have aired a total number of 3 660 episodes by the 16th of July 2021. The show has amassed over 4 million viewers daily in its tenure, and for that, we’d like to say ‘Dankie Mzansi for 14 years.’

Rhythm City will be replaced by Mzansi’s brand new soapie, House of Zwide.

And they all lived happily ever after…

Many viewers took to social media to express their sadness over the ending of Rhythm City.
