South African actress, Thandeka Mdeliswa has passed away

Popular South African actress, Thandeka Mdeliswa,  popularly known for the role of Khanya in SABC1 Isindebele drama ‘Ikani’, has died at the age of 34.

In a statement, the family says Mdeliswa was shot on September 3, in Evander, Mpumalanga, and died Saturday morning at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria.

Social media is abuzz with tributes with the hashtag #RIP-Thandeka-Mdeliswa trending on Twitter. Thandeka becomes one more woman who has died at the hands of a man. Many believe that men have indeed declared war against women, what will it take to end this war?

This is sad, as the incident has happened just a few days after the women’s month. May her soul rest in peace.
