Circle of friends

Before Women’s Month is over, I would like to acknowledge two very strong, supportive women in my life, a part of my circle of friends. These women have been my pillars, my strength, my friends and my colleagues. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

Lizette and Annemarie

Every woman needs a supportive circle of friends, strong women who are not afraid to lift her up, elevate her and see her shine. Women who do not have  the ‘pull her down’ (PHD) syndrome. Friends that you can be vulnerable to and feel great afterwards, friends who cry with you and laugh with you, sometimes even crying on your behalf, fighting your battles and worrying on your behalf. Something magical happens when women support each other, something wonderful and beautiful is born each time women work together instead of against each other. But, it takes a special kind of woman. A woman who is comfortable in her own skin will not hesitate to help another woman. An intelligent, beautiful and strong woman will not feel intimidated by helping a fellow woman, nurture her to grow and standing by her when she needs it.

It is not easy being a leader, let alone a female leader. I salute every woman in leadership who still respects her subordinates. Who doesn’t feel threatened by her colleagues because she knows who she is. A leader who doesn’t throw her title around to intimidate other women. A woman in leadership who uses her position to help, assist and lift other women… A woman like my immediate boss, Lizette. She is not an angel, neither is she perfect, but she is a woman and a leader… The world would be a better place if we had female leaders like this.
Women’s Month might be almost over, but the respect and gratitude I have for the strong women in my life will always remain. May we learn to build each other up instead of pulling each other down. We can only do that if we are comfortable in our own skin, remember, you are woman, you are goddess!

Yes, we can!
