Linda Gabriel, the vibrant and vivacious 29-year old spoken word maestro from Zimbabwe, leaves Mzansi, her adopted home for the last six years, in the next fortnight. “It’s been a great experience and a real honour being in South Africa for six years,” says the spoken word Wits student. Linda is easily among the more polished spoken word practitioners any day anywhere. The multi-talented spoken word sensation bows out in style at Niki’s Oasis in Bree Street, Newtown on Saturday 8 November. November 8 promises to be a jam-packed afternoon.

What with all those artists in full force, including The Khulage Movement / Mkhulu Elliot Tshabalala! He describes himself as, “a musician from the Vaal who does not only specialise in music but also manages artists and coordinates events.”

Another artist to grace the stage is Siza Nkosi. When asked who Siza is, she has this to say, “She is a published poet, lyricist, guitarist and a mother who has shared pages of her life stories on stages with many renowned poets and artists.” Siza is currently working as an IT networking specialist in Johannesburg and is one of the first women to fuse poetry with the acoustic guitar. She is the founding member of House of Siza, a resident poet for MoFaya Poetry Movement and Divulge – a creative space for artists to share connect and network on their projects.  Her work has been published in the Sunday World newspaper, Poetry Potion, Timbila Journal, the Sol Plaatjie European Union Poetry Anthology for 2014 and other online poetry journals and magazines. She is presently working on her debut poetry music album and a collection of poems.”   Other artists performing on the day are poet and photographer Bless Moknowledge Sunofmen (Keabetswe Blessing Ndlovu), who says, “I am a creativist, well-known as a poet and I have performed on platforms such as KNP, TOT, Word n Sound to name just a few. I have also performed in and around Gauteng, shared the stage with the likes of Natalie Molibatsi and Keoreapetse Kgositsile. I have mentored other artists and am currently hosting Noble Path Poetry Events.” Add to this list the names of Kabelo Kilobyte (KB); Akinwale James (Nigeria); Modisana-Modisanity Mabale and last but not least Shumi da Poet, and you have a formidable arrayof refreshing talent to give Linda  a rousing send-off.
